Coetzee's roman Mr. Foe en Mrs Barton, onderzoeken ze hoe verhalen worden geconstru­eerd en wie het recht heeft om ze te vertellen. Hoe geraken herinne­ringen, feiten en fictie verstren­geld? Foe neemt je mee naar een dor en onbewoond eiland en laat je heen en weer reizen tussen verschil­lende tijden. Levende planten laten als een bijzonder orkest hun stem horen in een unieke compositie.
